Nuala Droney is a partner in the firm's Business Litigation Group. She serves as chair of of the firm's Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Team and as a member of the White-Collar Defense and Corporate Compliance Practice Team.
Ms. Droney focuses her practice on complex litigation in federal courts, including antitrust, patent, trade secret, trademark, unfair trade practices, fraud, and contract disputes. In 2013, The Connecticut Law Tribune named Ms. Droney one of its New Leaders in the Law and Connecticut Super Lawyers® named her a Super Lawyer in Business Litigation (Super Lawyers is a registered trademark of Key Professional Media, Inc.).
Ms. Droney's practice has included representing a worldwide supplier of gas generation systems in multipatent infringement actions in the Eastern District of Texas, representing clients in a multijurisdictional dispute over patents for monitoring and controlling energy usage, and prosecuting a patent infringement action for a major integrated supplier based on an Internet procurement patent. She is currently representing a print industry manufacturer in a complex federal action involving fraud, trade secret misappropriation, antitrust, and computer crimes allegations.
In addition to her civil practice, Ms. Droney maintains a criminal practice. She represents clients in government and internal investigations. Through the Criminal Justice Act Training Panel, she represents indigent federal defendants in Department of Justice prosecutions.
Ms. Droney chairs Robinson & Cole's Women's Committee. She was instrumental in creating a program that provides free legal services to victims of domestic violence seeking restraining orders in Connecticut Superior Court.
By appointment of Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Ms. Droney serves on the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority's Board of Directors. Before entering private practice, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Alfred V. Covello, United States District Judge, District of Connecticut.
