Scott Sebastian is an attorney in the firm's Business Section, where he specializes in state and local tax issues. He works on various state tax matters, including issues related to personal and corporate income taxes, sales and use taxes, and excise taxes.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Sebastian served as legal counsel to the Joint Committee on Revenue of the Massachusetts General Court. While at the Massachusetts State House, Mr. Sebastian analyzed and drafted complex pieces of state tax legislation, researched state and federal tax laws related to matters before the committee, and advised the chairman, the Speaker of the House, and other members about tax law and policy.
During law school, Mr. Sebastian was a legal intern for the Honorable Nancy Gertner of the United States District Court, District of Massachusetts, and the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, Litigation Bureau.
Prior to law school, Mr. Sebastian worked on the Gore-Lieberman 2000 presidential campaign, serving in a variety of positions, including New Hampshire state director. In addition, he functioned as a field organizer and ballot observer during the 2000 post-election ballot recount in Florida. Mr. Sebastian was also a legislative assistant in the New Hampshire House of Representatives, where he worked in the Office of the House Democratic leader.
