Bob Sitkowski focuses his practice in land use law, with a special emphasis on the legal aspects of smart growth and new urbanism. He has significant experience in evaluating, drafting, and implementing zoning and planning regulations, and in representing developers, landowners, municipalities, and advocacy groups in land use matters.

Bob Sitkowski focuses his practice in land use law, with a special emphasis on the legal aspects of smart growth and new urbanism. He has significant experience in evaluating, drafting, and implementing zoning and planning regulations, and in representing developers, landowners, municipalities, and advocacy groups in land use matters.

Mr. Sitkowski has worked as a city attorney and an urban planner for local governments in Pennsylvania, and for five years before entering legal practice, he practiced architecture and urban design in Chicago and Pittsburgh. He is a registered architect and a certified planner.

Mr. Sitkowski has written extensively about legal aspects of the New Urbanism and has spoken on this and other land use law topics at meetings and symposia of the Rocky Mountain Land Use Institute, the Brookings Institution, the American Planning Association, the Seaside Institute, the Congress for the New Urbanism, the International Municipal Lawyers Association, the American Institute of Architects, and the American Bar Association. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Form-Based Codes Institute. He is a past winner of the American Planning Association's R. Marlin Smith Writing Competition, and in 2002, he was named one of the "New Leaders of the Law" by the Connecticut Law Tribune, a distinction given to attorneys practicing ten years or less who have gained success in their law practice as indicated by their influence in the law profession or bar, by service to clients, or by gaining the respect of their professional colleagues.

Mr. Sitkowski earned a bachelor of architecture in design from the University of Illinois at Chicago, a master of urban and regional planning from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, and his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut, Illinois, and Pennsylvania.
