Christopher Bergan is a member of Robinson+Cole’s Business Transactions Group, where he focuses his practice on corporate, strategic, financial, and commercial transactions.
Banking and Finance
Mr. Bergan represents banks and other financial institutions in connection with a range of transactions. He regularly drafts loan agreements and modifications, along with all ancillary loan documents such as guarantees, loan disbursement instructions and internal corporate resolutions.
Mr. Bergan has experience representing both companies and investment funds with growth equity financings. Mr. Bergan recently successfully guided private equity fund clients through large financial transactions, including the sale of a manufacturing company and an investment in an organic food business.
Mergers and Acquisitions
Mr. Bergan handles corporate mergers and acquisitions, including drafting and negotiating the terms and financing components of these transactions. He counsels clients in connection with investment, purchase, stockholder, and operating agreements. Mr. Bergan has helped clients in both domestic and cross-border merger and acquisition transactions.
Mr. Bergan regularly does work on a pro bono basis. Through a referral from Kids in Need of Defense, or KIND, Mr. Bergan assisted a teenager from Central America in adjusting his immigration status.
While in law school, Mr. Bergan was the recipient of a Fulbright Binational Business Grant. As a law clerk at Galicia Abogados, S.C., a law firm in Mexico City, he participated in the financing of several infrastructure projects, including the construction of a natural gas pipeline and a hydroelectric energy plant. Mr. Bergan is fluent in Spanish.
