    Biography

    Kelsey Cross, a member of Robinson+Cole's Insurance + Reinsurance Group, focuses her practice on liability and property insurance coverage matters.

    Property and Automobile Insurance Coverage and Defense

    Ms. Cross has broad knowledge of all types of insurance policies, including homeowners, condominium, commercial, farm, and automobile policies. Ms. Cross has experience representing insurance carriers in first and third-party insurance coverage matters including property damage resulting from fire, hail, water, windstorm, theft, and construction defects. Ms. Cross has extensive litigation experience and has litigated cases involving coverage issues, business interruption claims, fraud, and allegations of bad faith. Ms. Cross also has experience advising insurance carriers on coverage obligations and represents them in litigation which arises from automobile insurance coverage disputes. She also has experience representing insurance carriers in automobile liability and coverage litigation with allegations involving bad faith. She has obtained successful outcomes for clients, including negotiating favorable resolutions and settlements. Ms. Cross provides general advice and opinions to clients on insurance coverage and liability. She also has extensive experience investigating and litigating insurance fraud involving property and personal injury protection insurance.

    Environmental and Land Use

    Ms. Cross’s experience also includes litigation and advisory roles regarding environmental and land use laws and regulations, including reviewing local zoning codes, and researching developments in international environmental law pertaining to environmental law claims such as beach erosion and damage to sea turtles’ habitats. Ms. Cross also has experience researching local ordinances and regulations on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), as well as drafting proposed UAS ordinances and pleadings to challenge UAS ordinances.

    Pro Bono

    Ms. Cross is involved in the firm’s pro bono project to fight wildlife crimes in Namibia, Africa. She works to help Namibia's Legal Assistance Centre improve wildlife conservation laws and strengthen their enforcement, to help stop the poaching and illegal trafficking of lions, giraffes, black rhinos, and elephants. Ms. Cross is also helping a new Florida-based non-profit organization, Blues for Vets, Inc., which gets service dogs for disabled veterans who suffer from disabilities such as post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and traumatic brain injury. Ms. Cross is part of a team of firm attorneys working to help the organization with its legal needs, including helping it register as a non-profit entity and gain tax-exempt status.

    Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Cross served as an Assistant State Attorney in Florida's 17th Judicial Circuit, where she gained significant courtroom and trial experience.
