Melanie Dykas works in the areas of general business litigation and government enforcement matters, in industries such as financial services, manufacturing, and health care. She represents clients in complex litigation and provides guidance in mediations, arbitrations, settlement negotiations, and court trials. Melanie is a member of the firm’s Business Litigation Group.
Prior to joining Robinson+Cole, Melanie represented national and regional financial institutions in the defense of lender liability and unfair business claims, as well as real estate litigation, fraud, and tort-related matters. She routinely collaborated with corporate in-house counsel to develop and implement litigation, discovery, settlement and trial strategies. Her experience also includes representing clients in a variety of complex commercial disputes, such as foreclosure, lender liability, Uniform Commercial Code, construction, prejudgment remedy, energy/telecommunications, unfair trade practice, employment, and contract disputes at the state, federal, and arbitration level.
Melanie has worked for government relations law firms, where she researched legislative history, drafted bill proposals and worked with legislators and businesses to advocate for issue areas including insurance; construction/contractors; and franchise, tax and health care. She also has represented clients in appeals at both the state and federal levels as well as before government agencies such as the Department of Banking and Department of Consumer Protection.
