  • Overview


    Alec Rubenstein focuses his practice on affordable housing financing, commercial real estate development, and general real estate matters. His clients include businesses of all sizes, lenders, developers, builders, and organizations. He is a member of Robinson+Cole’s Real Estate + Development Group.

    Affordable Housing Financing

    Mr. Rubenstein represents lenders, drafts loan documents, conducts due diligence, and reviews titles and surveys in connection with financing transactions for affordable housing projects. He  recently helped represent a national bank lender in three multi-million dollar Fannie Mae Reduced Occupancy Affordable Rehab (ROAR) program loan transactions, totaling $18.9 million.

    Real Estate – Financing and Transactions

    Mr. Rubenstein assists clients with all real estate transactions and financing, including drafting mortgage and loan documents. He helps negotiate, document, and close acquisitions, dispositions, and financings. He advises clients in the structuring, negotiation, and documentation of mortgage loans and real estate transactions; conducts due diligence; and handles title matters. He recently helped with the review of multiple existing commercial leases in connection with the acquisition of a large commercial property.

    Pro Bono

    Mr. Rubenstein is committed to doing pro bono work. He assisted in an international pro bono project to analyze, and propose changes to, the laws on wildlife crimes in Namibia.

    While attending law school, Mr. Rubenstein was the vice president of the New York Law School Dispute Resolution Team and an assistant editor for the Journal of Taxation and Regulation of Financial Institutions.

      • Assisted with the representation of a large national bank in its role as lender in three related multi-million dollar Fannie Mae ROAR program loan transactions, totaling $18.9 million.

      • Assisted with the review of multiple existing commercial leases in connection with a large commercial property acquisition.

      • Assisted with the representation of a land owner in litigation regarding the value and best use of the client’s property after it was taken via eminent domain.
