Preventive Counseling

We provide counseling on the following:

  • hiring, discipline, and individual and group terminations
  • personnel policies, handbooks, offer letters, employment contracts, severance agreements, and other employment documents
  • disability, handicap and rehabilitation laws, and reasonable accommodations and the interactive dialogue process
  • minimum wage, overtime, vacation pay, and other wage and hour requirements
  • all matters relating to compliance with discrimination laws, such as Title VII, ADA, ADEA, and PDA
  • the increasingly numerous laws affecting employers, including such diverse matters as whistleblower protection, drug testing, background checks, benefit continuation, anti-retaliation, family and medical leave, maternity, free speech, personnel files, same sex marriage, and employee references


We offer the following:

  • a Training Institute that offers educational programs on employment and benefits topics
  • electronic newsletters that keep clients up-to-date on changes in labor, employment and benefits law
    • Experience
      • Serving as outside employment counsel for a national energy company, advising inhouse counsel and human resources professionals on all aspects of employment law including due diligence, hiring and termination issues, wage and hour compliance, risk management, and other employment-related matters.
      • Serving as outside employment counsel for the Northeast region of a national truck rental company for all areas of the employment relationship.
      • Serving as outside employment counsel for national fluids testing company with laboratories across the US for all multistate employment matters including investigations, wage and hour compliance, individual terminations and mass layoffs, electronic record keeping issues, and all other risk-management matters.
      • Ongoing representation of numerous employers in internal audits and federal and state governmental investigations focusing on wage and hour compliance including white collar exemptions to the overtime regulations and child labor violations.
