Biography

Eric Lankton is a member of the firm’s Insurance + Reinsurance Group and focuses his practice on providing insurance coverage advice to insurers concerning complex claims and disputes. He is also experienced in various aspects of litigation including arbitration, mediation, depositions, motion practice and settlement of claims.  

Eric’s background includes counseling insurers on a broad range of coverage issues pertaining to their obligations under commercial general liability, automobile, and homeowners/property policies. He has represented insurers in multiple jurisdictions, with a practice that encompasses all areas of coverage in both the first- and third-party contexts and related litigation services, including defense of bad faith claims.

Prior to joining Robinson+Cole, Eric developed extensive litigation experience, including the defense of insureds in complex claims and lawsuits including violations of civil rights laws, professional liability, personal injury and medical malpractice. He has represented clients at all stages of litigation and has appellate court experience, having contributed to the handling and briefing of appeals before several courts, including the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, both the Connecticut Supreme and Appellate Courts, and the Massachusetts Supreme Court.
