Biography
Jovana Vujovic focuses her practice on life, disability, and health care litigation. She has experience in handling all aspects of litigation and pre-litigation matters, and in providing advice to clients to assess and minimize their litigation exposure. She is a member of the firm's Managed Care + Employee Benefit Litigation Group.
Employee and Group Benefits Litigation
Jovana handles disputes related to group welfare benefits, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), health insurance, disability insurance, and life insurance coverage. She has represented clients in disputes across the country, at both the trial and appellate levels. Her previous experience as a corporate counsel in the litigation section of MetLife gives her special insight in assisting her insurance company clients.
Health Care Litigation
Jovana represents leading insurance companies and healthcare providers in all aspects of health care litigation, in state and federal courts and before the American Arbitration Association. She has experience handling a range of health care related disputes, including disputes involving ERISA preemption, payor/provider contract disputes, nonparticipating provider reimbursement claims, pharmacy benefit plan/provider disputes, and claims alleging violation of the Mental Health Parity Act.
Immediately prior to joining Robinson+Cole, Jovana handled health care and ERISA litigation at an international trial firm. During her career, she has also represented corporate and individual clients in connection with federal and state complex commercial litigation at the trial and appellate levels and in connection with regulatory matters before the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Department of Justice, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, and Commodity Futures Trading Commission. She has handled securities litigation, white-collar defense, real estate litigation, and employment litigation.
Jovana is a native speaker of the Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian language.
