Affordable Housing Development

Our Affordable Housing Development practice works closely with our clients in every phase of an affordable housing development transaction, including acquisition, permitting, environmental, local State and Federal financing, and syndication of a variety of State and Federal tax credits. We use our knowledge of the laws and programs affecting affordable housing to support our developer clients in achieving their goals for the creation of affordable housing.

Our clients are committed to the creation of quality affordable housing using a wide range of financial sources, including State and Federal low-income housing tax credits, historic tax credits, energy tax credits, environmental tax credits, new market tax credits, as well as financing from local State and Federal lenders ranging from local and state housing and community development offices to State financing agencies to HUD.

We handle all aspects of every transaction including analysis of overall deal structuring, acquisition issues, organizational matters and creation of entities, negotiation of all loan documents, and syndication of tax credits. Our cross-disciplinary group allows us to support developers in every phase of an affordable housing project, including negotiating construction-related contracts, zoning and permitting, analyzing and addressing environmental matters, documenting tax-exempt bond financing and addressing tax related issues that are unique to affordable housing creation.
