Our Large Loss Property Subrogation practice group comprises seasoned lawyers and leaders in the subrogation field. We prosecute large loss property subrogation claims arising from fires and explosions, water losses, construction defects, boiler and machinery failures, and marine and inland marine losses.
We skillfully handle complex and high-value subrogation claims for many of the world's largest insurers and reinsurers, as well as more routine subrogation matters. Our clients turn to us to provide valuable services, from evaluating matters of all sizes to negotiating, mediating, and arbitrating claims.
Our Services
Our team has the proven skill and judgment to achieve maximum subrogation recoveries. Our streamlined approach makes it easy for clients to report new claims promptly, so we can immediately preserve evidence, gather information, and doggedly pursue your rights.
We ensure the right forensic experts arrive at the loss scene on short notice. Our lawyers are fully versed in all aspects of origin and cause investigations, and we conduct thorough investigations alongside industry experts, positioning our clients to effectively evaluate potential recoveries.
We consistently communicate with you on the status of investigations, theories of liability, analysis of key documents, and relevant legal issues. Our subrogation coordinator serves as your key point of contact, contributing to our team’s efficacy through awareness of your business priorities and broad-based knowledge of insurance coverage, claims procedures, and subrogation issues.
We typically propose mediation early in the subrogation process to prevent the time and expense of prolonged litigation. When litigation becomes necessary, we vigorously pursue the case through trial and appeal. We have achieved many successes in mediation and arbitration.

We maintain strong relationships with independent adjusters and consultants, including leading forensic accounting firms that handle business interruption aspects of coverage claims. Our relationships help us achieve coordinated and seamless recovery efforts. We also collaborate with interdisciplinary practice groups throughout our firm, accessing resources from our Business Transactions, Construction, Insurance, Litigation, and Real Estate + Development teams.
Members of our team are leaders in specialized professional organizations, including:
- Loss Executives Association (LEA)
- International Bar Association (IBA) Maritime and Transport Law Committee
- National Association of Subrogation Professionals (NASP)
- National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
Property Insurance Committee of the American Bar Association (ABA-TIPS) Tort Trial and Insurance Practice
- Property Loss Research Bureau (PLRB)
Our practice group chair, John Kane, serves on the NFPA 921 technical committee. Our Large Loss Property Subrogation team has access to a nationwide network of top forensic professionals, fire investigators, fire protection engineers, and fire scientists who promptly respond to loss sites anywhere in the United States. We are adept at pursuing your rights and offering seamless recovery efforts.
