Robinson+Cole announced intellectual property attorneys Robert T. Maldonado and Tonia A. Sayour have joined the firm's Intellectual Property + Technology group as partners in its New York office. Together, they bring decades of experience helping clients protect, enforce, manage, and maximize the value of their intellectual property assets through litigation, portfolio management, licensing, transactions, prosecution, and strategic counseling.

Prior to joining Robinson+Cole, Maldonado and Sayour each spent more than two decades practicing intellectual property law in New York, developing broad practices spanning litigation, prosecution, enforcement, licensing, and strategic portfolio counseling. Their combined experience further expands the firm's ability to support clients across the full lifecycle of intellectual property protection and management.

"Rob and Tonia are highly accomplished intellectual property attorneys whose experience spans sophisticated litigation, portfolio management, licensing, transactions, and strategic counseling," said Intellectual Property + Technology group chair John L. Cordani. “They have built impressive practices helping clients protect, enforce, and maximize the value of their intellectual property assets. Their arrival enhances our ability to deliver the strategic, business-focused counsel our clients seek and reflects Robinson+Cole's continued investment in expanding our New York presence and growing strategic areas of practice that align with our clients' evolving needs."

Maldonado is a trial and appellate intellectual property lawyer and registered patent attorney with more than three decades of experience helping clients protect, enforce, and maximize the value of their intellectual property assets. He handles litigation, portfolio management, licensing, enforcement, and strategic counseling involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, false advertising, and unfair competition matters. His experience spans a broad range of industries, including fashion, Food + Beverage, software-as-a-service (SaaS) and consumer products. He represents clients before federal trial and appellate courts, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

"Throughout my career, I have focused on helping clients protect, enforce, and maximize the value of their intellectual property assets,” said Maldonado. “Robinson+Cole offers a highly collaborative environment and a strong Intellectual Property + Technology practice that aligns well with my practice and client needs. The firm's ongoing expansion in New York and its investment in building complementary practices create tremendous opportunities for clients and attorneys alike, and I'm excited to be part of that growth."

Sayour is an intellectual property attorney with more than two decades of experience advising clients on patents, trademarks, copyrights, prosecution, licensing, transactions, and litigation. A registered patent attorney, she has litigated more than 100 cases in jurisdictions across the United States and counsels clients ranging from emerging companies to established businesses on the protection, management, and enforcement of intellectual property assets. Her practice includes intellectual property-related transactions, branding, licensing, and enforcement strategies.

"I was drawn to Robinson+Cole's combination of sophisticated intellectual property capabilities, entrepreneurial approach, and strong commitment to client relationships,” said Sayour. “The opportunity to join a highly regarded team with a national platform that continues to invest in enhancing its capabilities is especially exciting, and I look forward to helping clients navigate complex intellectual property, licensing, and business challenges."
