Avrohom Rosskamm represents domestic and foreign liability insurers with respect to complex insurance and reinsurance matters. His practice focuses on financial lines, commercial general liability, commercial property, and general liability coverage. Avi advises insurance carriers on coverage issues arising under multiple lines of insurance and represents insurers in litigation and arbitration disputes, including matters pending in state and federal courts and international arbitration proceedings.
Avi also maintains an active pro bono practice, including representation of an incarcerated individual in a prisoner civil rights action under 42 U.S.C. § 1983.
Before joining Robinson+Cole, Avi served as an inaugural law clerk to the Hon. Victoria Reznik of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. In that role, he conducted legal research and drafted proposed bench memoranda, orders, opinions, and reports and recommendations for substantive, procedural, and dispositive motions across a broad range of legal issues. He also prepared for and attended court proceedings, including an employment discrimination trial, oral argument, discovery-related conferences, settlement conferences, and criminal hearings involving presentments, bail, and pleas.
Avi previously served as a law clerk for the Staff Attorney’s Office of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. There, he prepared bench memoranda and proposed orders for the Second Circuit judges, recommending dispositions in appeals and substantive motions involving civil rights, constitutional law, criminal law and procedure, habeas corpus, employment discrimination, appellate procedure and jurisdiction, and civil procedure.
During law school, Avi served as a judicial extern for the Hon. Paul G. Feinman of the New York Court of Appeals and as a judicial intern for the Hon. Nicholas G. Gaurafis of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He was a teaching assistant for the school’s Civil Procedure course and the two-semester Lawyering and Legal Writing Seminar.
Avi’s extracurricular interests include travel, art museums, skiing, and baseball.
