Christie D. Jean assists governmental entities with a range of financial transactions. 

Public Finance

Christie represents state and municipal governments in the issuance of tax-exempt and taxable bonds, notes, and other debt obligations. Her clients include various Connecticut municipalities and state authorities, as well as municipal housing authorities with multi-million-dollar bond financings in connection with construction or renovation projects, including low-to-moderate income housing, hospitals, health care facilities, education, and other facilities.

Christie has served as counsel for issuers, borrowers, and underwriters in structuring and documenting revenue bond issues for various projects, such as colleges, universities, affordable housing, hospitals, and assisted living and continuing care facilities. She also has experience in real estate transactional matters relating to the financial services industry.

Christie also represents the State of Connecticut as bond series counsel. As bond counsel, she assists clients in drafting bond authorizations, negotiating indentures, advising clients on refunding transactions, and assisting municipal advisors in preparation of offering documents for negotiated, competitive or direct placement bond issues. As underwriters’ counsel, she assists underwriters of governmental securities with compliance with applicable disclosure and securities laws

General Corporate Services

Christie also advises clients on general corporate matters, as well as quasi-public agencies with respect to matters concerning statutory compliance, including compliance with the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act.

Represents numerous housing authorities in financings for multifamily housing revenue bond projects throughout Connecticut, and in New York and Rhode Island.

The meeting featured Attorney Beth Griffin, Executive Director of Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers-Connecticut, Inc., who presented a program entitled: ”From Unwell to Well: Maintaining Professional Integrity, Personal Health and Life Balance throughout a Successful Legal Career.” Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers is Connecticut's lawyer assistance program providing crisis intervention and referral services to the Connecticut legal community. Finance Group lawyer Christie D. Jean currently serves on the Crawford Executive Board.
