Kurt S. Stiegel concentrates his practice on real estate development and finance with an emphasis on affordable housing and community development. He represents developers, lenders, business and non-profit organizations in financings, dispositions, acquisitions, and multifamily, mixed-finance redevelopment projects. He is a member of our firm’s Real Estate + Development group.

Real Estate - Development

Kurt advises owners and developers on development and construction projects, including affordable housing projects that leverage state and federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Historic Preservation Tax Credits, tax-exempt bond financing, state and local funding, and equity investment.

Affordable Housing Lending

Kurt routinely represents lenders in a wide array of affordable housing transactions, including construction and permanent financing transactions, tax-exempt bond transactions and tax credit transactions. He counsels lenders in the structuring, negotiation, and documentation of mortgage loans, conducts due diligence, and handles all matters related to title.

Prior to entering private practice, Kurt served as a judicial law clerk for the Housing Court Division of the Massachusetts Trial Court and worked as the Research Director of the Joint Committee on Housing of the Massachusetts State Legislature.
