It Takes More than an Algorithm to Prove an Agreement: An Analysis of Gibson v. Cendyn Group
On May 8, 2024, Chief Judge Miranda Du of the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada granted defendants’ motion to dismiss with prejudice the complaint in Gibson v. Cendyn Group, LLC, Docket No. 2:23-cv-00140-MMD-DJA, an antitrust case alleging that hotel operators on the Las Vegas Strip used algorithms to inflate room prices in violation of Section One of the Sherman Act. The court’s reasoning provides litigants on both sides with a framework for future cases. Read more

Linn Freedman Contributes to A Woman’s Guide To Navigating a Successful Career in Healthcare Information Technology
Data Privacy + Cybersecurity Team chair Linn Freedman contributed to the recently published A Woman’s Guide To Navigating a Successful Career in Healthcare Information Technology. The book highlights over “50 of the Healthcare Information Technology (HCIT) industry’s brightest female pioneers” who share insightful lessons backed by years of experience, as well as tips for women navigating successful careers in HCIT. Linn contributed to Chapter 9, providing a brief overview of her career, in addition to answering questions on how women can pursue careers in the HCIT industry, best professional advice to advance in HCIT, her proudest work-related accomplishment, questions women HCIT candidates should ask in interviews, and additional barriers women still need to overcome in HCIT.
“Don’t be intimidated by a roomful of men in this industry,” she writes. “Wow them with your knowledge and experience, and you will gain credibility and trust. Find ways to solve problems instead of contributing to them.
