Rickie M. Sonpal is co-chair of Robinson+Cole’s Business section and a member of our firm’s Business Transactions group. He has a broad-based corporate and transactional practice that encompasses mergers and acquisitions, partnerships and joint ventures, debt and equity financing, and general corporate and commercial matters. His clients represent many industries, with a special emphasis on the food and beverage and renewable energy industries.
Rickie M. Sonpal is co-chair of Robinson+Cole’s Business section and a member of the firm’s Business Transactions group. He advises clients on a broad range of corporate and transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, partnerships and joint ventures, debt and equity financings, and day-to-day corporate and commercial matters.
Rickie represents corporate clients as well as strategic and financial investors in domestic and cross-border transactions, counseling both buyers and sellers through all stages of transactions. He has significant experience in the renewable energy sector, routinely advising renewable energy developers, investors, and independent power producers on the acquisition and sale of renewable energy projects across the United States. Rickie has been involved in the sale of several of the largest solar generation and battery storage projects in Rhode Island and routinely handles purchases and sales of solar and wind generation facilities in New England and beyond.
Rickie also has deep experience in the food and beverage industry, advising companies on growth and financing transactions and on operational and commercial agreements, including supply, co-manufacturing, distribution, logistics, and other supply chain arrangements. His experience includes representing food and beverage companies and pet product companies in equity and debt financings, commercial contracting, strategic transactions and other corporate matters.
In addition, Rickie helps clients structure and implement commercial partnerships and joint ventures across a range of industries, including joint ventures involving food and beverage brands and renewable energy projects. He also regularly counsels emerging and high-growth companies, entrepreneurs, and investors on capital raises, convertible debt, and equity financings.
Prior to joining Robinson+Cole, Rickie built his practice at a globally recognized AMLaw 10 law firm. He served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Peter K. Leisure, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Rickie was an investigator of police misconduct with the New York City Civilian Complaint Review Board.
