Robert C. Seiger counsels employers and professional athletes on a broad spectrum of immigration matters. Rob’s practice focuses on industry- specific employment law services, training programs, litigation support, and immigration solutions. He represents clients in professional and collegiate sports including football, baseball, soccer, motor racing, and golf professionals as well as in the entertainment industry. Rob serves as outside immigration counsel to several National Hockey League franchises and represents college and university athletic departments in immigration and related compliance issues for their foreign athletes.

As a member of our firm’s Immigration group, Rob works closely with compliance officers, human resources leaders, talent acquisition professionals, managers, and foreign nationals to help them manage these complex issues. Rob is particularly adept at assisting his sports industry clients in navigating complex immigration laws and regulations, including:

  • E, H, J, L, O, P and TN non-immigrant visas
  • EB-1, PERMs, immigrant visas
  • EB-5 Immigrant Investor Visas
  • J-1 waivers
  • Outbound issues

Rob also represents employers in I-9 audits, complex immigration cases, consular processing and immigration ramifications of criminal charges. Rob advises and represents employers and individuals before the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of State.

Prior to joining Robinson+Cole, Rob worked at several national and global law firms.

Rob Seiger Named Chair of Sports Lawyers Association’s Newly-Established Sports Immigration Sub-Committee

Immigration group partner Robert Seiger was recently named the inaugural chair of the Sports Lawyers Association’s (SLA) newly formed Sports Immigration Sub-Committee. Rob spearheaded the committee’s formation after three years of collaborating with the SLA’s board leadership. The committee will assist with positioning the SLA as a thought leader on relevant immigration issues affecting the sports and entertainment industries. The SLA strives to increase the understanding, advancement, and ethical practice of sports law by connecting established and aspiring leaders in the industry to elevate the profession.
