Brian D. Murphy represents commercial mortgage and national institutional lenders in multifamily real estate transactions, concentrating on affordable housing transactions. His real estate practice focuses on transaction-specific issues, including review of title, survey, regulatory, and other transactional matters.

Prior to joining Robinson+Cole, Brian worked at a boutique law firm assisting with affordable housing lending matters, including construction and permanent lending through the Freddie Mac Tax-Exempt Loan Program. His experience includes using tax-exempt bonds, low-income housing tax credits, Section 8 and other project-based rental assistance, state and local tax exemptions, multiple layers of public and private funding sources, and ground lease structures that fall within compliance with Freddie Mac’s program requirements to meet project needs.

Previously, Brian worked under a General Counsel carrying out a housing authority’s mission of providing affordable housing and supportive services enhancing the lives of low-income families.
